Salsa and Chips

This solo is Joyce’s first with Alfred Music and is sure to appeal to young students with its Latin style and clever lyrics. Written with the melody divided between the hands, the thumbs are on adjacent white keys, Middle C (left hand) and D (right hand). This creates a hand position that is easy to maintain and alleviates the problem of the thumbs sharing Middle C. Simple rhythm patterns in 4/4 meter are repeated throughout the melody, providing opportunities for reinforcing counting and keeping a steady beat. The optional teacher duet creates a fun and lively addition to the solo.
